Embrace

15:23

     Director: Taryn Brumfitt
Staring: Taryn Brumfitt, Amanda De Cadanet, Turia Pitt

Documentary time! Lucky me, i have been blessed with the flu,       much like the rest of Perth. I have been in and out of naps and         dizziness all day :( I managed to squeeze this beauty in!

I have been intrigued with Embrace, ever since i saw the photo that started it on Facebook. Taryn Brumfitt had struggled with body image after having her three babies and admittedly hated her body. She had a friend who was a personal trainer who encouraged her to enter a bikini body competition to help motivate her to lose the weight. She did! and she looked incurable strutting her stuff on that stage, i wish i had a flat stomach like that! Once Taryn had the perfect body she realised that she wasn't happy and was happier with her old body, her slightly bigger body. So the photo that went viral was her 'before and after' photo. Usually the bigger bodied picture is the before and the skinnier bodied picture is the after, it was the other way around for Taryn and she loved that.

Taryn didn't want her daughter to go through the same body issues she did, so she travelled the world meeting beautiful women who have also accepted their bodies. This documentary is a real eye opener and makes us realise how hard we are on ourselves for our bodies, myself included. These stories from these amazing women is life changing, especially Turia Pitt, i want to be friends with her! just ordered her new book - yes! I definitely recommend watching this, Taryn is also Australian!

TV SERIES: 13 Reasons Why

11:21

Director: Brian Yorkey
Staring: Katherine Langford, Christian Navarro, Justin Prentice

We've had a blog refresh! yay! so pretty! I'm still figuring this blog design thing out so any tips would be great!

So first a little update on my life. Blogging has been put on hold while i finish The Vampire Diaries (i'm up to season 5 so only another 3 to go!) I have so many movies piling up, this weekend is Easter long weekend so hopefully i'll fit some in then and i'm throwing my friend Georgia a slumber/movie marathon party next weekend so i'll tick some off then to! Rhys is currently watching Vikings and we hadn't really watched a show or a movie together in forever so we discovered and heard the hype behind 13 Reasons Why.

13 Reasons Why is a 13 episode long tv series based on the same titled book. It follows a teenager in his quest to uncover the story behind his friend's decision to end her life. Hannah played by WA's Katherine Langford (you go Perth gal!) leaves 13 cassette tapes and on them explains the 13 reasons why she chose to end her life.

I must admit, it was extremely hard to get into until episode 5 or 6, then i became addicted. We watched the entire season in 3 days. Episode 9 is when i realised how dark and depressing this show really is, it's the type of thing you watch and then really don't know how to feel about yourself after. Moving onto Episode 12, absolutely heartbreaking, i couldn't stop crying, it hit me really hard, it was the most confronting thing i have ever watched.

In a way everyone can relate to this, high school is a pretty shitty time for most people, not just high school, growing up in general. This show should be compulsory for high schoolers to watch, people don't realise how their words can affect people.

13 Reasons Why has really made me reflect on my life and the person i currently am and who i want to be. It has made me want to be a better friend and a better human. What an eye opener - now onto the book!

Beauty and the Beast

10:58

Director: Bill Condon
Staring: Emma Watson, Luke Evans, Dan Stevens

I know i promised this post back in March, i am so sorry! I will be better from now on :)

So back on the 22nd March i was lucky enough to go to the preview screening of Beauty and the Beast at Hoyts Southlands 'Girls night out' which included a ticket and popcorn, i didn't have to share with my mumma which was awesome!

I couldn't wait to see this film, it was the highlight of my week, it's all i would talk about at work haha sorry Nat! The movie stayed true to the original and turns out it was also a musical - yippeee! After every song i wanted to stand up, join in, cry, emotions were running wild, and who know Emma Watson could sing?

As always i won't spoil too much, although i would hope everyone has seen it by now! This star studded cast was tremendous, Ewan McGregor with his french accent, amazing! Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts, hello, um where did that common essex accent from? Loving the fact that they kept Lefou as his true gay self, in love with Gaston which was the same as the original but i guess back in the day no one really noticed it, i know i didn't as the movie came out when i was months old.

Bravo Disney, you aced the real life remake, what is next? The Little Mermaid, The Lion King? Stay tuned!

Don't Breathe

10:00

Director: Fede Alvarez
Starring: Jane Levy, Stephen Lang

I had heard good things about Don't Breathe, especially as it was released at the cinema.

I love Jane Levy, i've loved her since the remake of The Evil Dead.

Don't Breathe is about three friends who go around taking part in small robberies. After they vow to not do another one, they notice a blind man living in their neighbourhood, who apparently is keeping a small fortune hidden away. The three friends decide to target the blind mans house who turns out to not be as hopeless as he seems. The trio get stuck and locked inside once the blind man notices there is someone in his house. It soon becomes a game of cat and mouse where they find out the man is hiding more than just a fortune.

I certainly loved the first hour of Don't Breathe however the ending turned a little weird, i won't say too much to spoil the ending, but weird, just weird.

Fifty Shades Darker

17:48

Director: James Foley
Starring: Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eric Johnson

On Wednesday my girlfriends and I went to see the highly anticipated Fifty Shades Darker. It was the advanced screening and at the LUX cinema at Hoyts Carousel. Our tickets included luxurious seating, unlimited soft drink and popcorn, a girls night out goodie bag which was filled with makeup, magazines and rosehip oil and champagne on arrival! Becky didn't want hers so I gained 2 glasses - winning!

I was stressed about getting there early and probably pissed everyone off in doing so, I'm such a control freak. I could not wait to watch it, I had been thinking about this movie for 6 months! I even considered re-reading the book - who am I kidding, I literally have three books on the go at the moment no way was I going to fit in another one, especially one that I had already ready haha!

Without going into too many spoilers, Fifty Shades Darker makes you fall in love with Christian Grey. In Fifty Shades of Grey, I personally hated Christian, beating women for pleasure, no thank you. In the new movie he becomes more of a normal person and wants a normal relationship with Ana, thank the lord. Ana gets closer to Christian and finds out more about his past, Mrs Robinson and suddenly finds herself with a stalker and a creepy boss!

Fifty Shades Darker was incredible, I loved every minute of it. Because I am the biggest weirdo in the whole world, I'm dying to see it again. If I watch a really good film, I have to watch it all over again as soon as it has finished, so the fact that I can't see it again until I go back to the movies is killing me! I've watched all the trailers a million times just to get my fix.

Rita Ora surprised me in this one, she did so much better than the first! Hopefully learnt her own lines instead of having an ear piece in! Jamie Dornan's accent did not annoy me as much in this one, and his stubble made him soooo much sexier. He kisses Dakota's nipples - hmmm wonder how his wife feels bout that one! Also, another plus, the soundtrack is amazing!! Cannot wait to get my hands on it!! If you haven't yet seen it, see it as soon as possible!!!!!!
