Barely Lethal

11:51

Director: Kyle Newman
Starring: Samuel L Jackson, Jaime King, Jessica Alba, Hailee Steinfield, Sophie Turner, Steve O

After my Dry July efforts, my sister in law bought me a golden ticket (a night of allowed drinking) so I could engage in a few beverages for my mid-year work function. So on Friday night, I made my way down the cocktail list enjoying every taste! Saturday morning however was not friendly, I was feeling seedy as Rhys woke up at 6 to play golf! ugghhh! Back to bed for me, but annoyingly I couldn't sleep. So I watched a couple of episodes of Finding Carter (AGAIN) and caught up on Pretty Little Liars, then decided to watch Barely Lethal!

Barely Lethal is the story of a teenage special ops agent (Steinfield) who decides to fake her own death and convert to a normal adolescence by enrolling into a suburban high school as an exchange student. She learns that surviving high school is harder than her assignments taking out bad guys. Megan, (steinfield) does all her relevant research, watches Mean Girls, 10 Things I Hate About You and buys every gossip magazine. Jessica Alba plays bad girl Knox who is so damn dreamy in this role! Her blonde locks and amazing body, gah she is amazing.

The movie was like a classic high school, girl-goes-for-the-wrong-guy-who-is-hot-but-really-loves-her-best-friend-happy-ending-woo movie. It was good to cure my hangover but was fairly average with a fairly average ending.

TV SERIES - Finding Carter

09:56

Creators: Terri Minsky and Emily Silver
Starring: Kathryn Prescott, Cynthia Watros, Alex Saxon, Anna Jacoby-Heron, Jesse Henderson, Zac Pullam

Oh my god, this series is amazing! I've been staying up past my normal bed time trying to cram as many episodes as possible into my night, last night I succeeded in finishing season 2. I honestly felt like I couldn't do anything until I had finished watching, every episode was such a cliff hanger! So yesterday after work, I got straight into bed and left my house a mess and decided to cook a frozen meal instead of the delicious homemade cannelloni I had planned. What is happening to my life?

Finding Carter is about a teenager who finds out she was abducted as a toddler and is returned to her biological parents. She finds out the life she has been living has been a lie and now has to start over with new parents, a twin sister and a younger brother. New parents mean new rules and Carter (Prescott) find them difficult to abide by. The story goes on and on and you think how many bad things can happen to this family!

Finding Carter is the perfect mix of family, love, drama and suspense. You may recognise Carter, Kathryn Prescott as Emily from the English TV series Skins except this time she has an American accent and nails it! When you find out that Carter has a twin sister, I waited for it to be Kathryn Prescott's actual twin sister who also features in Skins, but no sadly it wasn't haha!

I don't know what I am going to do with my life as Season 3 doesn't have a start date yet ahhhhhhhhhhh! Everyone must watch it asap!!! My favourite series at the moment!!!

Paper Towns

10:17

Director: Jake Schreier
Starring: Cara Delevingne, Nat Wolff, Austin Abrams, Justice Smith, Halston Sage

Because I am a Hoyts member I get special discounts and preview screenings of certain movies so Rhys and I saw Paper Towns last night. When we sat down in our seats, Rhys was sure I had conned him into a Disney film with the entire cinema full of 14 year old girls. I have been waiting for this movie to come out for months, dying to see Cara's acting abilities especially after viewing the new Suicide Squad trailer yesterday - I've already watched it about 20 times.

Paper Towns comes from the genius who also wrote The Fault In Our Stars, John Green which also stars Nat Wolff. Quentin (Wolff) falls in love with the girls across the street, Margot (Delevingne) from a young age and together they become partners in crime, until Quentin becomes scared and no longer wants to join in Margot's activities, they soon drift apart. As it is their final year in high school, Quentin is still so in love with Margot but has dreams of becoming a doctor, getting married etc. One night Margot climbs through Quentin's bedroom window and asks for his help in her revenge plot against her now ex-boyfriend. After a night of getting to know each other again, Quentin thinks things regarding their friendship will change to something further in the morning. In the morning Margot goes missing, Quentin soon finds little clues to find Margot's whereabouts and sets out on a road trip with his best friends.

This movie had me in stitches, I was literally laughing out loud, so was Rhys! Cara did very well, she was very surprising with her acting skills and freshly dyed brown hair, she also puts on an American accent and tries a little too hard - I cannot get the way she says 'car' out of my head! Rhys, without really knowing who she is said he couldn't see past her English accent. There was also a tiny cameo from Ansel Elgort who stars in John Green's other film, as soon as he came on the screen, every single 14 year old girl screamed hahaha. Also Halston Sage is sooooooo pretty, ugh.

Magic Mike XXL

13:19

Director: Gregory Jaocbs
Starring: Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Matt Bomer, Elizabeth Banks

Every single girl I know has been dying to see the second installment of Magic Mike for years! On Sunday, I met my girlfriends at the movies to indulge in hot bods, dreamy men, luxury seats and unlimited free popcorn. Seeing a movie in La Premier means you can drink alcohol and order food, much to my disgust as I am currently participating in Dry July (no alcohol for the month) they had a Magic Mike, mouth watering cocktail on special that obviously my friend Jordan just had to have - I was one very jealous movie watcher.

Three years after Mike (Magic Mike, Tatum) bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game he decides to join the old team the Kings of Tampa and hit the road to put on one last show at the a stripper convention. The story line in the second one was much much much better than the first, watching the boys get high on molly was hilarious and surprisingly they were all still so amazing.

Some of my thoughts during the movie include
- 'Joe's abs, seriously how are they real? The whole time I was thinking him and Sophia would make magical babies.'
- 'It is such a shame Matt Bomer is gay!'
- 'Wow this role was written for Jada, she is such a boss lady, I would like to be called a queen by her, oh and she kisses Channing - wow.'
- 'Tarzan is gigantic and he scares me.'
- 'Tido has crazy hair'.
- 'Woooo Childish Gambino! I love him and he sings in this woooooo'.
- 'Amber Heard is drop dead gorgeous, and she is a hippy, who loves red velvet ice-cream, what more could you want.'

I definitely recommend seeing it, I loved it! However, the ending came at such a surprise, I was like ummmm is that it, it went on for long enough just that I wanted to know more about what happened between certain people, hey maybe there will be a third, we can only hope.

That Sugar Film

12:20

Director: Damon Gameau
Starring: Damon Gameau, Isabel Lucas, Brenton Thwaites

Wow. What an amazing documentary. Damon Gameau starts his 'healthy eating' journey after cutting out refined sugar for the past three years. Damon wants to show the world how fat is better than sugar compared to what everyone thought. All 'low-fat' foods have a ridiculous amount of sugar in them, so Damon starts his day by having an Up-and-Go, a bowl of low-fat yogurt with
Sultana Bran and much to his disgust finds 20 teaspoons of sugar in one meal!

Rhys and I eat fairly healthy but after watching That Sugar Film, I wanted to throw everything in my pantry in the bin! My favourite Teriyaki sauces have SOOOOO much sugar in them, I didn't even realise! Baked beans are also not so good so I said goodbye to them for my weekend breakfasts and no more tomato sauce on anything! I must admit our weekend food shop after watching this was full of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish! We did exactly what Damon said to do and only shop in the first and last isle, skipping everything in between - Hopefully it'll help with getting us both wedding body ready.

It has made me think about how I want to raise my children regarding food after seeing what fizzy drink can do to teeth - yuck! My mum is a dental nurse so as children, my brother and I were never allowed coke, lemonade, lollies or chocolate, my mum was super strict and now I must admit I thank her for it, 23 years old and no fillings or cavities! I'm slowly working Rhys off the fizzy drink too, although after a boys day watching the UFC yesterday, I found a bottle of coke in the fridge - which is going in the bin when I get home :)

This is a definite must see! A real eye opener! You also get a 5 minute perve on Brenton Thwaites' body!

TV SERIES - Orphan Black

12:40

Creators: Johm Fawcett, Graeme Manson, Alex Levine, Kim Coghill, Andrew De Angelis, Jeff Setsky, Adam Higgs, Bob Mackowycz Jr., Elize Morgan, Peter Rowley, Rebecca Sernaise
Starring: Tatiana Maslany, Dylan Bruce, Jordan Gavaris,

Ah Season 3 is over and the fourth doesn't come out until May 2016!! We started watching Orphan Black when we got it in Bali almost 2 and a half years ago. Orphan Black is the story of a streetwise hustler, rebellious Sarah Manning who one night witnesses the suicide of a girl who looks just like her. Sarah decides to steal the suicides identity and then starts realizing there is more than 1 other person who looks like her. As the story unfolds a new 'clone' pops up in almost every episode. The clones come together to find out their history and their futures.

Tatiana Maslany plays all clones, Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Crystal, Rachel, Beth the list goes on, and she does every single character beautiful! Her talent is beyond incredible with changing into different characters, different accents all the time!

Season 3 gets a little lost in the story line, you sort of feel like it's getting too involved with itself, but the finale definitely comes out on top! I can't wait to see Tatiana in future films I just adore her!

Insidious: Chapter 3

13:35

Director: Leigh Whannell
Starring: Dermont Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Angus Sampson, Lin Shaye

Sorry again it's been a little while since I've blogged, I'm currently half way through True Detective and Orphan Black - my excuses always seem to be when i'm stuck in TV series!

Last Friday night, I finished my gym class and met my girlfriends back at mine for a few drinks and pizza. Well, that turned into a HUGE night featuring most of Rhys' friends that last till early hours of the morning. So Saturday, yes I was hungover, so very hungover. Rhys had left me in bed to help his parents, when I wok up I decided I couldn't actually get out of bed without being sick so I watched Insidious. - I realize that I sound like a massive alcoholic who suffers from insane hangovers, which is half true. I'm trying to be good now as I MUST get wedding body ready!! I'm also participating in Dry July this month, woo go me.

I am a huge fan of the Insidious movies, the first two scaring the hell out of me! The third installment is actually a prequel, you get to know more about Elise who is a psychic who can talk to the dead which is interesting. It focuses on a young girl Quinn  (Scott) who has lost her mother and goes on quests to find psychics to allow her to try and speak to her, however along the way has accidentally invited bad spirits in. Quinn finds herself in a bad accident that leaves her bed ridden with two broken legs and doesn't realize that a dark entity has attached itself to her - OH MY GOD the thing is so scary, this human like creature who cannot breathe and is all black and terrifying, not good to watch alone. The story goes on where Elise decides to help Quinn and free her from the entity.

I'm giving this one an average score because I definitely preferred the first two, however I guess it did it's job by scaring me lots :)
